Immediately after Typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda onslaught in central Philippines, Canada sent the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to the Philippines to assist in the relief and rescue efforts in the disaster zones in the Panay Islands. Their heroic efforts must have saved thousands of lives from disease, hunger, thirst and lack of shelter. The DART team comprised of medical , engineering and other rescue personnel. The Canadian tents are still in existence in Estancia, Iloilo as a strong reminder of the support given by Canada to the Philippines. Canada's contributions from private and government promised matching grants have reached $170 Million.
It is now time for us to thank our DART heroes personally as they will be at the Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show on June 28. They will be given special recognition at the event, after all they deserve all the accolades and it is part of the Pinoy Spirit of friendship and camaraderie. The team will be on hand to answer questions and to demonstrate their capabilities. Come join us at the Pinoy Fiesta and meet our heroes.
