PCCF Donates $ 17,200 to ANCOP and AFCM!




The Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation (PCCF) has once again fulfilled its pledge to support worthy causes like Answering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP) and the Archdiocesan Filipino Catholic Mission (AFCM).

On December 10th, 2016, PCCF President, Romy Rafael handed over the cheque donations during a celebration at the Our Lady of Assumption Church.

A donation of $11,500 was handed over to ANCOP President Ricky Cuenca to support its mission and build more homes for the poor in the Philippines. Ricky praised PCCF for its continued support and will use these funds to complete the ANCOP Village in Tala, Caloocan, where dozens of families have been affected by Leprosy.

The second donation of $5,700 was handed over to Father Ben Ebcas on behalf of the AFCM. Through its five ministries comprised of the laity that include Worship, Education, Formation, Social Concerns, Temporalities and Youth; AFCM works to strengthen the church’s presence among the Filipino Community.

Romy Rafael, PCCF President stated how “proud he is of the community for their unending generosity and support!”

To-date, PCCF has donated over $80,000 to various philanthropic endeavors both in Canada and in the Philippines. Beneficiaries include ANCOP, AFCM, the Kapuso Foundation, Tahanan na Walang Hangdan and other worthy causes.

Attendees of the celebration included volunteers, parishioners and notable figures including Fr. Ben Ebcas, the PCCF Executive Officers – Romy & Rebecca Rafael, Rosemer A. Enverga, Mario Alpuerto, Gloria & Phillip Rafanan, Lita & Tony Leano, Jojo & Fe Taduran, Danio & Nitz Penuliar, Chris Jones, Noemi & Primo Milanes, June Javier, Sena Flores, Mila Lupangco, Ben Ferrer, Dawn Angue, Frank & Sonia Crawford, Rosemarie & Neph Ramos, Fidel Guzman, Alex Saroca and the PCCF Council of Leaders including Eric Sales, Zeny Crescini and Marita Enriquez; the Pageant Entourage - Angeli Lachica, Yonita Talandato, Loida Cox, Gloria Salvador, Len Salvador, Ranielle Lucero, Amber Rinker, Monique Dador, Joseph Sucion, Edward & Quincy Jones and of course, PCCF's Ambassadors of goodwill, Miss Philippines Canada- Krista Bella, Miss Teen Philippines Canada - Chiara Silo, Little Miss Philippines Canada - Angeline Siao and Mrs. Philippines Canada - Amelia Arcillo. Other prominent figures in attendance, included Senator Tobias Enverga Jr, MPP and Leader of the Opposition Patrick Brown, Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Neil Reeder (2013-2016), former ConGen Pedro Chan and former Minister Joe Oliver. PCCF through its advocacy of the community by holding events like the very prestigious Miss Philippines Canada, Little Miss Philippines Canada, Mrs. Philippines Canada and Miss Teen Philippines whose finales are being showcased in one of the biggest annual and much awaited indoor community events in Canada, the Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show sa Toronto thrives to promote the Filipino culture while giving back at the same time. Rosemer Enverga, EVP of PCCF, stated that, "We are so blessed here in Canada, that we must give back to our kababayans!"
