PCCF's Relief Efforts for TAAL Eruption Victims
JANUARY 25, 2020 - BATANGAS, PHILIPPINES - Last January 12th, 2020 the Taal Volcano located in Batangas began to erupt forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate to safety. The ashes were seen and an earthquake was felt approx 90 kms away in the capital city of Manila.
An entourage of over 20 Officers and members of the Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation (PCCF) were set to travel to the Philippines for its annual charity initiatives to various causes including ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor), Tahanan Walang Hagdanan, the Kapuso Foundation and other local charities. With the eruption of the Taal Volcano, PCCF readily committed to provide much needed help and support with the relief efforts.
Led by PCCF President, Rosemer Enverga, and PCCF Exec Larry Receno, PCCF and the Alpha Phi Omega Lipa Alumni Association teamed up to donate and distribute boxes of canned goods to families impacted by the Taal eruption in Lipa, Batangas evacuation centre. PCCF team donated masks, canned goods and towels to the families from Lemery at Ibaan, Batangas evacuation centre.
"My family and I were just at Tagaytay last year where the Taal Volcano is located as it is a very popular tourist destination. So it was incredibly devastating to see towns buried in ashes and the thousands of displaced residents who were in need of supplies (clean water, warm food, etc). PCCF would like to thank all of you for your generosity and request for your continued prayers in helping the displaced residents as they recover from this calamity" said Rosemer.
The PCCF entourage also included Execs Lita Leano, Noemi / Primo Milanes, Rosemarie & Neph Ramos, Sena Flores, Kim Belen, Willy Santiago and the 2019 Pageant winners and their families, Sophia-Little Miss Philippines Canada, Hailey-Miss Teen Philippines Canada, and Rena-Miss Philippines Canada.
